FIT App

FIT App

As part of the Web Development program at the British Columbia Institute of Technology, I teamed up with 2 other students and we planned and designed an app for a project in the UI/UX course.

After interviewing 6 potential users and conducting 60 questionnaires, we created 5 personas and developed their DITLs (days-in-the-life), user stories, and customer journey maps. Based on the refined user flow, we created a site map and wireframe.

The process of brushing up from wireframes to the final prototype involved 5 rounds of user testing, with feedback reflected weekly. Since I had already studied Graphic Design and was familiar with Figma, I was in charge of the overall design concept, logo, and most of UI design. The colour scheme concept was ‘simple, fresh, and energetic’. So I chose black as the main colour, since the main users were male and female, young to middle-aged adults. I downloaded about 5 similar apps and tested them myself to see the features, flow, menu, and icons.

During user testing, we carefully checked the first-time users’ behaviour. They behaved in ways we didn’t expect and it took a long time to navigate the screen. As a result, we ended up with a lot of screens that needed to be designed. However, in the final prototype, we were able to create an app that even first-time users could use without hesitation.
